MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
On behalf of the Legal Defense Fund Board of Trustees, please allow me to welcome you back to an in-person PORAC Conference of Members. It has been a long 2 years of Zoom meetings and conference calls for all of us. There is no substitution for exchanging ideas face to face with our fellow officers.
The hard work by the trustees and staff throughout this challenging time does not go unnoticed. The Fund continues to flourish.
We have more participating member associations, and more money in reserves for the payment of benefits, than ever before in the history of the Fund.
We have plan participants in all 50 states in the country and 4 U.S. Territories.
This year, law enforcement in California saw several significant legislative changes affecting us all. The most significant change was the creation of statewide police officer certification and the related decertification in certain circumstances. The Trustees and executive leadership at PORAC have worked closely together as this law transpired, to formulate a plan that would ensure adequate protections are in place for LDF members. At conference, I will be presenting a new coverage benefit being made available to LDF members. This coverage will be available for all LDF associations enrolled in Benefit Plans I, II, and III, to add as a supplement to their current plan.
The new LDF Plan VI supplement will provide administrative coverage for decertification proceedings.
Law enforcement must stick together under the powerful PORAC flag to continue to deliver the benefits our members expect and deserve.
Feel free to reach out to any LDF Trustee if we can assist going forward. Have a great time in Monterey.
On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees
