MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

On behalf of the PORAC Legal Defense Fund Board of Trustees, please allow me to welcome you to this year’s Conference in Region 4. It has long been my position that we must constantly strive to improve and stay in front of the matters that effect our members. This is the philosophy I follow to guide LDF as Chairman.

As leaders in our local associations, we are battling to retain the hard-earned benefits we have negotiated for over the years, as well as the legal protections we have had the privilege to work under. Law enforcement in California continues to stave off several significant legislative attacks.

When appropriate, we respond by changing the coverage protections LDF can provide to its members.

For example, in response to the enactment of Senate Bill 2, last year LDF rolled out the optional Plan 6 to ensure members can choose to have legal representation at decertification hearings. We expect these decertification hearings to begin in the new year and are informed that we should expect over 1,000 hearings in just the first year.

Together, unified under the powerful flag of PORAC as the voice of law enforcement in California, we will continue to deliver the benefits our members expect and deserve.
