Chairman’s Message

FRED ROWBOTHAM
Chairman

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the PORAC Legal Defense Fund, I look forward to welcoming everyone to this year’s PORAC Conference in Anaheim, California, during the third week of November.

Over the course of this past year, your LDF trustees and staff have been working hard to fine-tune the many important new attorney and trustee policies and procedures that have been implemented over the past few years. These policies range from attorney billing practices to the ethical conduct of the attorney firms and the LDF trustees. As I have mentioned at every opportunity afforded me, it is my position that we must constantly strive to improve and never become complacent; we must always stand on the shoulders of those who came before us and reach for better. As Chairman of the LDF Board, the theme of continuous improvement has been, and continues to be, my mantra.

The Fund continues to grow, both in the number of members as well as in the size of our cash reserves available to provide benefits to our participants. As law enforcement comes under greater scrutiny, the importance of a strong Legal Defense Fund has never been more crucial. If you know anyone in law enforcement, whether in California or outside the state, who does not already have PORAC LDF, reach out to them and let them know how valuable it is and that they, too, may be eligible for membership. No officer should be out there on the streets or in the field without the security of knowing that when push comes to shove, someone strong will be standing behind them.

I applaud the members of PORAC who voted to bring nearly all of the “Limited” members of PORAC in as full members at the Conference last year. It is important that we continue to stand together with one voice in California. The only real voice for law enforcement in California is

PORAC.
See you in November!
